Top 3 College Football Games – Week 4
If there’s such thing as a must win in week 4 this is it. Ole Miss started the season 1-2. Technically yes I guess they could still be in the mix if they win the SEC but a third loss and it’s “better luck next year” time for the Rebels.
For Georgia, ok you’re 3-0. But you’ve beaten UNC, Nichols, and Missouri by a combined 12 points. Ecchhh.
Everyone wants to keep pushing Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly as the best in the country. The stats aren’t terrible with 953 yards passing 10TD/3INT but you’re still waiting for more. He’s probably the best QB in the SEC. But that will only get you so far.
This game should come down to defense. Ole Miss is ranked 111 in the country. The Ole Miss Landshark defense looked like mere porpoises against Bama last week. One of these defenses needs to step up to the plate. Which ever one makes more plays should be the winner.
2) Oklahoma St at #16 Baylor 7:30 Fox
I really like this game for my Upset Alert. Baylor is another team that’s played a preseason schedule so far (Northwestern St, SMU, Rice) But if there was a team that needed to ease into a season it was certainly Baylor.
Oklahoma State, well most people feel they should be 3-0 based on the free play Central Michigan was given to help them pull off the upset. And here’s a name that’s flying under the radar a bit…Mason Rudolph Oklahoma St QB.
Through the first 3 games of the season he has 1017 yard 6TD/1INT
Baylor does enter the game with the #4 passing defense in the country but again that was against NWST, SMU, Rice. Not exactly murders row of college passing teams.
Mason vs. the Baylor secondary could be one of the best unit match-ups of the weekend. The Baylor crowd however could be the x factor here. They are an angry bunch after the tumultuous offseason.
You only need one number to look at as to why this is a huge game…11. That’s the losing streak for Tennessee vs Florida. We always talk about Tennessee being the sexy pick in the SEC. This is how you can finally earn that respect. Can you get over the Florida hump?
This game will tell us a lot about both teams. Florida is another team who has played a preseason schedule up to now. And Tennessee while they’re 3-0 they have struggled vs Appalachian State and Ohio.
The preseason talk with Tennessee has centered around their QB/RB tandem of Josh Dobbs and Jalen Hurd. Not a great start for either so far. Dobbs 486 yds 6TD/3INT and Hurd 270 yds 2 TDs. Here is their chance to break out.
But it won’t be easy vs. Florida #2 pass defense and #4 rush defense. And before you say WOW, let’s keep in mind they have accomplished this against the mighty offenses of UMASS, Kentucky and North Texas.
A Tennessee win will silence the critics (myself included) and get the Florida monkey off their back.
