Hey everybody, I am Nate Discavage. I’m excited to join The Radio Blast as a sports writer and will be focusing primarily on baseball.
If there is one thing you need to know about me it is that I had anything but a normal childhood. My mom is in the Army, and I spent my entire life moving every two or three years. By the time I reached college, I had lived in 11 different places. Whether it was a bustling city like Chicago or the-middle-of-nowhere, Kansas, I have seen so many different people and places (oh and I also lived in South Korea and Germany).
After—quite literally—living across the globe, there is one unifying thing that connects everybody from all walks of life: sports. I have watched first hand as language and cultural barriers have been shattered by a basketball. I have watched an entire nation collectively gasp as a goalie makes a game-saving stop in the World Cup. I have watched an American and Chinese exhibition baseball game with over 10,000 German spectators. Nobody cares what you look like, your socioeconomic status or your religion when you step on the field; they just want to see what you can do with the ball.
Sports continues to be my first love as I check all the box scores as I go to bed and read any bit of analysis I can when I wake up. I can’t wait for you to see my passion as I begin writing with The Radio Blast and look forward to connecting with you.
